Itinerary
Day 1

Arrival & The Evening Glow of Pashupatinath

Kathmandu
+

Overview: Welcome to the chaotic, charming capital of Nepal. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), your journey begins with a transition from the modern world into the deep spiritual traditions of the Kathmandu Valley. After settling into your hotel, you will explore the vibrant tourist hub of Thamel before witnessing one of the most powerful religious ceremonies in the Hindu world.

  • Distance: 10–15 km total travel.

  • Time: 4–5 hours of active exploration.

Major Sightseeing Spots:

  • Thamel Market: A labyrinth of narrow streets filled with trekking gear, handmade mandalas, pashminas, and cozy cafes. It is the perfect place to soak in the city's energy.

  • Pashupatinath Temple (Sandhya Aarati): Located on the banks of the Bagmati River, this UNESCO World Heritage site comes alive at dusk. The Bagmati River Aarati is a mesmerizing ritual involving oil lamps, incense, and rhythmic chanting. You’ll observe devotees and sadhus (holy men) gathered across the river as priests perform synchronized prayers to Lord Shiva.

Daily Experience: The 30-minute drive to your hotel offers your first glimpse of Kathmandu's bustling life. After a quick refresh, a short walk through Thamel allows you to pick up local snacks or souvenirs. As evening approaches, the mood shifts at Pashupatinath. The smell of sandalwood and the sound of temple bells create an atmosphere that is both somber and celebratory, offering a profound introduction to Nepali culture.

Day 2

The Architectural Soul of Kathmandu

Kathmandu
+

Overview: Today is dedicated to exploring the "City of Glory." Kathmandu is essentially an open-air museum, and your second day focuses on the three distinct pillars of the valley: Buddhist stupas, Hindu temples, and the royal heritage of the Malla kings.

  • Distance: 20–25 km (circular route).

  • Time: 6–7 hours.

Major Sightseeing Spots:

  • Swayambhunath (The Monkey Temple): Perched on a hilltop, this ancient stupa offers a 360-degree view of the Kathmandu Valley. The watchful eyes of Buddha painted on the spire are an iconic symbol of Nepal.

  • Boudhanath Stupa: One of the largest spherical stupas in the world. This is the center of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. You can join the locals in a clockwise kora (circumambulation) around the base.

  • Kathmandu Durbar Square: A complex of palaces, courtyards, and temples. Keep an eye out for the Kumari Ghar, where the Living Goddess may occasionally peek from her window.

Daily Experience: Each site today offers a different perspective. Swayambhunath requires a bit of a climb (365 steps), providing a great morning workout and a panoramic view. Boudhanath is significantly more peaceful, filled with the hum of "Om Mani Padme Hum." Finally, Durbar Square showcases the intricate Newari woodcarvings that make Nepal’s architecture world-famous. You will spend the evening enjoying a traditional Nepali Thakali dinner.

Day 3

Flight to Pokhara & Lakeside Wonders

Pokhara
+

Overview: Swap the urban hustle for lakeside tranquility. A short, scenic flight takes you west to Pokhara, the gateway to the Annapurna region. Pokhara is famed for its crystal-clear lakes and the "Fishtail" peak (Machhapuchhre) reflecting on the water's surface.

  • Distance: 200 km (Flight: 25 mins) + 10 km local sightseeing.

  • Time: 4 hours of sightseeing.

Major Sightseeing Spots:

  • Phewa Lake: The heartbeat of Pokhara. You will take a traditional colorful boat (Doonga) across the water.

  • Tal Barahi Temple: A two-story pagoda temple situated on a small island in the middle of Phewa Lake.

  • Davis Falls (Patale Chhango): An extraordinary waterfall that flows into a deep, narrow canal and disappears underground.

  • Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave: Located across from the falls, this cave houses a sacred stalagmite dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Daily Experience: The flight itself is a highlight; if you sit on the right side of the plane, you’ll see the Himalayan range stretching across the horizon. Upon landing, the air feels noticeably fresher. After checking in, the afternoon boat ride on Phewa Lake offers a serene escape. The sound of the oars hitting the water and the reflection of the mountains provide a perfect backdrop for relaxation. Finish your day at one of the many "Lakeside" bars for live music and a sunset view.

Day 4

Mountain Vistas & Return to the Capital

Kathmandu
+

Overview: Rise early to catch the mountains at their best. Before flying back to Kathmandu, you will explore the higher vantage points of Pokhara to witness the scale of the Himalayas before concluding your lakeside stay.

  • Distance: 15 km local + 200 km (Return Flight).

  • Time: 4 hours morning sightseeing + 25 mins flight.

Major Sightseeing Spots:

  • World Peace Pagoda (Shanti Stupa): A massive white stupa built by Japanese monks. It sits on a ridge overlooking the lake and provides one of the best views of the Annapurna Massif.

  • Pumdikot Shiva Statue: A relatively new attraction featuring a massive seated statue of Lord Shiva with incredible mountain backdrops.

  • International Mountain Museum: A deep dive into the history of Himalayan mountaineering and the indigenous tribes of the region.

Daily Experience: The morning is all about the views. The climb or drive to the Peace Pagoda is rewarded with a stunning vista of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna South. It’s a quiet, meditative spot to reflect on your journey. After visiting the Mountain Museum to see the gear used by early Everest pioneers, you’ll head to the airport for your flight back to Kathmandu. The evening is yours to enjoy a final "farewell" meal in the city.

Day 5

The Medieval City of Bhaktapur & Departure

Kathmandu
+

Overview: On your final day, if your flight departs after 3:00 PM, you will visit the best-preserved medieval city in the valley. Bhaktapur is a step back in time, free from heavy traffic and filled with traditional pottery and ancient brickwork.

  • Distance: 15 km to Bhaktapur + 10 km to Airport.

  • Time: 3–4 hours.

Major Sightseeing Spots:

  • Bhaktapur Durbar Square: Often called a "living heritage," this square is wider and cleaner than Kathmandu's.

  • 55-Window Palace: A masterpiece of woodcarving.

  • Nyatapola Temple: The tallest temple in Nepal, standing five stories high and representing incredible structural engineering from the 1700s.

  • Pottery Square: Watch local artisans spin clay into traditional vessels and dry them in the sun.

Daily Experience: Bhaktapur feels different from the rest of the valley. It is quieter and more atmospheric. You must try the "Juju Dhau" (King Curd), a thick, creamy yogurt served in clay pots that the city is famous for. Wandering the cobblestone streets allows you to witness daily life—grains drying in the sun and locals socializing by communal wells. Afterward, a short 30-minute drive takes you directly to the airport for your flight home, concluding your Himalayan adventure.
