Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu – Thamel Market & Pashupatinath Aarti

Your journey begins with your arrival in the vibrant capital of Nepal, Kathmandu. Upon landing, you will be greeted by a representative and transferred to your hotel for a smooth check-in process. The initial drive covers approximately 10–12 km and takes about 30–45 minutes depending on local traffic. After taking some time to relax and refresh, you will head out by late afternoon to explore the famous Thamel Market. This bustling tourist hub is a sensory delight, filled with colorful shops offering pashmina shawls, singing bowls, and intricate handmade artifacts. It is the perfect place to soak in the local vibe and perhaps pick up some trekking gear or souvenirs.

 

As evening approaches, you will proceed to the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most significant Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located on the banks of the Bagmati River, this site offers a profound spiritual experience. If timing permits, you will witness the divine evening Aarti ceremony. The mesmerizing ritual involves spiritual chants, oil lamps, and rhythmic music, creating an atmosphere of deep devotion and peace. The sight of the flickering lights reflecting off the river provides a beautiful introduction to Nepal’s spiritual heritage. After the visit, you will return to your hotel for an overnight stay, preparing for a full day of cultural exploration tomorrow.

Day 2

Full-Day Kathmandu Sightseeing

After breakfast, you will embark on a comprehensive 6–7 hour tour covering roughly 25–30 km through the heart of the Kathmandu Valley. The day begins with a deeper exploration of Pashupatinath Temple to observe the morning rituals and complex architecture. From there, you will visit the majestic Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world and a cornerstone of Tibetan Buddhism. Here, you can walk alongside pilgrims, spin prayer wheels, and enjoy the peaceful spiritual environment.

The journey continues to Swayambhunath Stupa, popularly known as the Monkey Temple. Perched atop a hill, it offers panoramic views of the entire Kathmandu Valley and serves as a unique blend of Hindu and Buddhist traditions. Following lunch, you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that showcases the historic palaces and temples of Nepal's former royalty. To conclude the day, you will explore Patan Durbar Square, renowned for its intricate Newari architecture and the famous Krishna Temple. Day 3

Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara via Chandragiri, Manakamana & Bandipur

Today involves a scenic 8–10 hour drive covering 220–240 km as you head toward the lakeside city of Pokhara. Departing at 7:30 AM, your first major stop is Chandragiri Hills. A cable car ride takes you to the summit, where, on a clear day, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges, including Mt. Everest. After descending, the journey continues toward the Manakamana Temple, dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati. You will experience a thrilling 10-minute cable car ride across the Trishuli River to reach this highly revered hilltop shrine.

Following your darshan at Manakamana, you will proceed further and stop at Bandipur, a beautifully preserved hilltop town. Bandipur is famous for its traditional architecture and its peaceful, car-free main street that offers stunning mountain views. The final leg of the drive follows winding rivers and lush hills until you reach Pokhara in the evening. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel and have the evening free to relax by the Lakeside area, where the reflection of the mountains on Phewa Lake creates a serene end to a long day of travel. Day 4

Sarangkot Sunrise & Full-Day Pokhara Sightseeing

Your day begins before dawn with a drive to Sarangkot to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The sight of the first golden rays hitting the snow-capped peaks is a highlight of any trip to Nepal. After returning to the hotel for breakfast, you will start a 6–7 hour sightseeing tour covering 30–40 km around Pokhara. The first stop is the ancient Bindhyabasini Temple, followed by Devi’s Fall, where a waterfall mysteriously disappears into an underground tunnel. Directly opposite is the Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, which houses a sacred Shiva lingam.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Seti River Gorge, known for its deep, narrow chasm through which the milky-white Seti River flows. You will also explore the International Mountain Museum, which provides fascinating insights into the history of mountaineering and the culture of Himalayan indigenous groups. You will pass through Beni and stop at Tatopani, which is famous for its natural hot springs where travelers often stop to rejuvenate. As the landscape becomes more arid and rugged, you will enter Marpha Village, a charming settlement known for its white-washed houses and extensive apple orchards.

Continuing north, you will reach Jomsom, the administrative center of the region, where the wind typically picks up in the afternoon. The drive then takes you through Kagbeni, an ancient, Tibetan-influenced village that serves as the gateway to Upper Mustang. The scenery here is dramatic, characterized by barren hills and the towering peaks of Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri. The final ascent takes you toward Muktinath. Upon arrival, you will check into a local hotel to rest and acclimatize to the higher elevation. Day 6

Muktinath Darshan & Return to Pokhara

Early in the morning, you will proceed for a darshan at the sacred Muktinath Temple, a site revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. Reaching the temple may involve a short local jeep ride followed by a 30–40 minute walk. At the temple, pilgrims traditionally take a holy bath under the 108 water spouts and visit the eternal flame that has been burning for centuries. The temple is set against a backdrop of stunning snow-covered mountains, making the spiritual experience truly divine.

After completing your rituals and exploring the temple complex, you will begin the 8–10 hour return journey to Pokhara. The 160–180 km drive follows the same scenic route along the Kali Gandaki River, allowing you to appreciate the dramatic change in scenery as you move from the arid Himalayan rain shadow back into the greener, more tropical climates of the lower hills. You will stop for meals and refreshments at villages along the way, enjoying the hospitality of the local communities. Day 7

Fly to Kathmandu & Leisure Evening in Thamel

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Pokhara Airport for your flight back to Kathmandu, typically scheduled around 12:00 PM. The 25-minute flight is an experience in itself, offering spectacular aerial views of the Himalayan range from your window. Upon landing in Kathmandu, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After some rest, the remainder of the day is dedicated to leisure and last-minute exploration.

In the evening, you will head back to Thamel Market for final shopping and leisure activities. This is your chance to revisit your favorite cafes, explore hidden alleys you might have missed on Day 1, or experience Kathmandu’s diverse nightlife. Whether you are looking for high-quality pashmina, local tea, or unique jewelry, Thamel remains the best place to find it. The local travel and transfer time in the city will account for approximately 3–4 hours of your day. Spend your final night in Nepal reflecting on the incredible journey from the high mountains of Muktinath to the cultural squares of the city. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 8

Bhaktapur Sightseeing & Departure

You will explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its exquisite woodcarvings and terracotta art. Key highlights include the towering Nyatapola Temple, the ornate 55-Window Palace, and the Golden Gate.

A visit to Pottery Square allows you to observe traditional potters at work, a craft that has been passed down through generations in Bhaktapur. After the tour, depending on your flight schedule, you will return to Kathmandu and proceed to the airport for your departure.
