Itinerary
Day 1

Arrival in Siliguri | Transfer to Phuentsholing

Bagdogra
+

Your adventure begins in the vibrant plains of West Bengal. Upon your arrival in Siliguri—whether at the Bagdogra Airport or the railway station—our representative will greet you for a scenic drive toward the Bhutanese border. As you leave the tea gardens of Dooars behind, the air begins to cool, signaling your approach to Phuentsholing, the bustling border town that serves as the economic gateway to Bhutan.

After checking into your hotel, you have the afternoon to witness the fascinating contrast between the two nations. Step through the Bhutan Gate, an exquisitely carved structure that marks the official entry point. Just a short walk away lies the Zangto Pelri Lhakhang, a small but stunning temple representing the celestial abode of Guru Rinpoche. Here, you can observe locals spinning prayer wheels and offering butter lamps. Spend your evening strolling through the local markets, where the aroma of spicy Ema Datshi begins to fill the air, before retiring for the night to prepare for the mountain ascent tomorrow.

Day 2

The Ascent to Thimphu

Thimphu
+

After a hearty breakfast, you will begin the breathtaking 170-kilometer drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. This journey is a highlight in itself, as the road snakes upward through mist-covered mountains, cascading waterfalls, and dense temperate forests. You will witness the landscape transform from subtropical greenery to alpine splendor. Along the way, keep your camera ready for the Gedu University views and the hydroelectric projects that power the nation.

Upon reaching Thimphu in the afternoon, you will check into your hotel and have the freedom to explore this unique capital at your own pace. Unlike any other capital city, Thimphu maintains a serene, slow-paced atmosphere. You might choose to visit Clock Tower Square, the rhythmic heart of the city, or Simply Bhutan, an interactive living museum where you can try your hand at archery or taste local butter tea. For nature enthusiasts, the Royal Botanical Garden offers a peaceful retreat among indigenous flora. The evening is yours to soak in the mountain air and the quiet dignity of Bhutanese urban life.

Day 3

Thimphu Sightseeing Tour | Transfer to Paro

Paro
+

Today is dedicated to uncovering the spiritual and administrative soul of Bhutan. Your guided tour begins at the National Memorial Chorten, a monument to world peace where the elderly circle the stupa in a meditative rhythm. Next, you will visit the Buddha Dordenma (Buddha Point). Cast in bronze and gilded in gold, this massive statue houses 125,000 smaller Buddha statues, and the panoramic view of the Thimphu valley from here is unparalleled.

The afternoon takes you to the Tashichho Dzong, a fortress of glorious religion. This grand structure houses the throne room of His Majesty the King and various government offices. You will also visit Simtokha Dzong, the first of its kind built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1629. This fortress is a treasure trove of Buddhist iconography and history. As the sun begins to dip, you will embark on a two-hour drive to the beautiful valley of Paro. The route follows the Pa Chhu river, providing a soothing backdrop to your transition into one of Bhutan’s most historic regions.

Day 4

The Pilgrimage to Tiger's Nest

Tiger's Nest
+

Prepare for the most iconic day of your journey. After an early breakfast, you will head to the base of the trail for a hike to Taktsang Monastery, famously known as Tiger’s Nest. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche flew to this location on the back of a tigress to meditate in the caves. The hike takes you through ancient pine forests draped with Spanish moss and past colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind. The sight of the monastery clinging to the granite cliff is a moment of pure wonder that stays with you forever.

After descending and enjoying a well-deserved lunch, the exploration continues in Paro town. You will visit the Ta Dzong, a circular fortress that now houses the National Museum, offering deep insights into the natural history and cultural evolution of the kingdom. Following this, walk down the trail to the Paro Rinpung Dzong, the "Fortress on a Heap of Jewels." This site is a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture, featuring fine wall paintings and intricate woodwork. Your final night in Paro is the perfect time to reflect on the spiritual energy of the mountains.

Day 5

Return to the Gateway | Arrival in Phuentsholing

Phuentsholing
+

It is time to bid farewell to the high valleys as you begin your descent back toward the border. The drive from Paro to Phuentsholing offers a final chance to admire the dramatic geography of the Himalayas. As you lose altitude, the air becomes warmer and the vegetation more lush. This return journey allows you to spot things you might have missed on the way up, such as the colorful roadside stalls selling "chugo" (hard dried yak cheese) and fresh mountain fruits.

Once you arrive and check into your hotel in Phuentsholing, the afternoon is dedicated to relaxation or light exploration. You can visit the Chukha Hydropower Dam viewpoint to appreciate Bhutan's engineering prowess or head to Alapan’s View Point for a final panoramic look at the plains meeting the hills. The evening is ideal for some last-minute souvenir shopping—look for intricate hand-woven textiles, wooden bowls, or handmade paper. Enjoy your final dinner in the kingdom, savoring the unique flavors and the incredible hospitality that has defined your stay.

Day 6

Departure Day | Farewell to Bhutan

Bagdogra
+

Your Bhutanese expedition concludes today. After a final breakfast at your hotel, you will complete the check-out formalities. Our driver will meet you to provide a comfortable transfer back across the border into India.
